RectorSeal 81881 is a 5 lb block of RectorSeal Duct Seal Compound, a gray, permanently soft, non-toxic putty-type compound that adheres to most clean, dry surfaces. It is asbestos-free, will not adversely affect other plastic materials or corrode metals, and has no adverse effect on human skin.
The compound is used by the building and electrical trades to seal around junction boxes, flashings and service mast entries, and the manufacturer also lists sealing around the ends of electrical conduits and boxes as a recommended use. It can be shaped by hand to any form and reused if necessary, with further applications in refrigeration, heating and cooling, plumbing and metal fabrication, as well as general-purpose sealing. It may be painted immediately after application and will not bleed through the dry paint film.
